Math - We will continue Chpt. 11 - Customary Measurement. We will discuss and solve problems using customary units of weight and time.
Science - Last week we discussed how fossils are formed. We discussed why scientists study fossils to help us understand the past and our earth We did two investigations: one in which students simulated the job of paleontologists using chocolate chip cookies and toothpicks; the second one involved using gummy bears and slices of break to mimic fossils in the ocean. The students really enjoyed these tasty activities. We will wrap up our unit on the Earth's Systems by discussing the types of maps including political, physical, and climate, and topographic maps. Social Studies - We will wrap up Chpt. 10 - Changing Times, Changing Faces. We will have an open book/open foldable quiz on Tues., June 8th. After the quiz we will begin a final look at our state, NJ. Students will work in class to create a travel brochure on NJ. Religion - We have completed Family Life and will focus the next two weeks on Chpt. 15 and 16. |
